Your journey begins with a pickup at the Seward Cruise Terminal or your hotel. From here, we set off on a remarkable road trip back to Anchorage, with plenty of sightseeing and adventure along the way.
2. Tour of Seward – A Historic Coastal Town
Before leaving Seward, we’ll take some time to explore this charming coastal town, known for its rich maritime history and stunning oceanfront scenery. Along the way, I’ll share fascinating stories about Seward’s heritage, culture, and role as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.
For those interested, there is also an optional visit to the Alaska Sealife Center, an excellent facility dedicated to marine research, education, and wildlife rehabilitation. (Entrance fees are not included.)
3. Stop at Bear Creek – A Local Favorite
One of my favorite stops in Alaska is Bear Creek, a hidden gem along the route. This scenic location offers a peaceful and picturesque setting, making it an ideal stop to take in the serene beauty of Alaska’s wilderness.
4. Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center – Encounter Alaska’s Iconic Animals
Next, we’ll visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, home to over 250 acres of protected land for native Alaskan wildlife. Here, you’ll have the chance to see:
- Grizzly bears roaming in their natural habitat.
- Moose, elk, and caribou up close.
- Bald eagles and wolves in a conservation-focused setting.
- The famous wood bison, part of a national restoration project.
You can choose to either walk through the center or drive through, depending on your preference. (Entrance fees are not included.)
5. Break at Girdwood Station & Optional Mt. Alyeska Tram Ride
After our wildlife encounter, we’ll take a short break at Girdwood Station, a quaint stop nestled in the stunning Alaskan wilderness. For those looking for an even more elevated experience, you have the option to take the Alyeska Tram Ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of glaciers, mountains, and Turnagain Arm.
If you choose to take the tram, you can also opt for lunch at the mountaintop restaurant, where you can dine with one of the best views in Alaska. (Tram and lunch fees are not included.)
6. Scenic Drive Along Turnagain Arm – Photo Stops & Wildlife Spotting
As we continue toward Anchorage, we’ll drive along the spectacular Turnagain Arm, one of the most scenic routes in Alaska. We’ll make occasional stops for photos, giving you the opportunity to capture:
- Towering mountains and dramatic landscapes.

- Expansive views of the ocean, tidal flats, and glaciers.
This portion of the journey is truly a feast for the eyes, with jaw-dropping views at every turn.
