Itinerary

1. Explore Anchorage’s Top Sights

We’ll begin by exploring all four corners of the city, including:

✅ Anchorage Salmon Hatchery

  • See where thousands of salmon swim upstream right through downtown.
  • Learn about Alaska’s fishing industry and salmon life cycle.

✅ Historic Downtown Anchorage

  • Drive through the heart of the city and see iconic landmarks.
  • Learn about Anchorage’s rich history and culture.

✅ Earthquake Park

  • Visit this historic site, where an entire neighborhood collapsed in the 1964 earthquake.
  • See dramatic landscapes shaped by the earthquake.

✅ Lake Hood (World’s Largest Floatplane Base)

  • Watch floatplanes take off and land on the busiest seaplane base in the world.
  • Learn about Alaska’s bush pilots and remote aviation history.

2. Scenic Drive Along Turnagain Arm

Leaving Anchorage, we’ll travel south along the Seward Highway, one of Alaska’s most breathtaking scenic routes.

✅ Beluga Point

  • Stop for spectacular photos along the Turnagain Arm.
  • Wildlife spotting – Keep an eye out for Dall Sheep on the cliffs above.
  • Seasonal Beluga Whale Viewing – If the tide is right, you may see beluga whales swimming along the coast.
  • If the timing is perfect, we may also witness people surfing the Turnagain Tidal Bore, a rare and fascinating natural phenomenon!

3. Visit Girdwood – Alaska’s Alpine Town

We’ll continue 25 miles south to Girdwood, a charming mountain town:

  • Stop for refreshments and restrooms.
  • Explore the town’s local charm and surrounding wilderness.
  • Option to ride the Alyeska Tram for breathtaking views of glaciers and mountains (Tram/lunch fees not included).

4. Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

A highlight of the trip! We’ll drive 12 miles further to visit this 250-acre wildlife sanctuary, home to some of Alaska’s most iconic animals:

  • See grizzly bears, black bears, moose, caribou, bison, eagles, musk oxen, and more!
  • Choose to walk or drive through the center for an up-close look at Alaska’s incredible wildlife. (Entrance fees not included.)

5. Return to Anchorage

After an unforgettable day exploring Anchorage and beyond, we’ll make our way back to the city.
